The building was commissioned by the Bergmann family in 1868, which ran textile factories in the town. In 1953, on the basis of confiscation the national enterprise Vigona became the owner and later in 1960 it was transferred to the hands of the Local National Committee Svitavy - Housing Administration, which established residential flats in the building. From 1994, the building was used as the base for the construction company Pechanec Construction, which in 1996-7 carried out extensive reconstruction and converted it into accommodation facilities with its present name Fountain Guesthouse.
In 1993 a building permit for Jan Slezáčka was registered, which was intended to set up shop on the ground floor for "non-food goods" and a carpentry shop in the rear annex. This intention was not fulfilled and remained only in the form of building plans.
